Exposing Hope- philanthropy through photography- Alissa Everett, Photojournalist and Founder

Today I have the pleasure of speaking with Nairobi-based photographer and founder of Exposing Hope, Alissa Everett.

Alissa’s career journey from the Peace Corps in Sengel to investment banking in California, coupled with her desire to authentically connect to communities, led her to pack her bags and cameras in 2003 and head to Iraq to begin an extraordinary career in photojournalism.

Her work documents humanitarian issues in countries around the world including Iraq, Darfur, Gaza, South Sudan, Afghanistan, DR Congo and Ukraine. She has been recognised by the International Photography Awards, Sony World Photography Awards, Siena Photo Awards, Gordon Parks Photo Awards, Photography Open Salon Arles and the International Women's Media Foundation.

And in 2007 Alissa founded Exposing Hope, a 501 (c)(3) C3 non-profit to raise awareness and funds for victims of human rights abuses worldwide through documentary photography.

Alissa will be speaking at the Frontline Club in London on June 21st and at the Royal Photographic Society in Bristol on June 20th. Both events are also online- click on the links to register.

And from April 21- November 27, 2022, her exhibition, Covering Beauty, presented by European Cultural Centre will be shown at the Palazzo Bembo in Venice, Italy. Here is the exhibition’s digital catalog.
