In today's episode we meet the inspiring Lindsay Sobel, founder of Shoes for Souls, a charity that collects and donates shoes to various homeless shelters throughout Southern California, USA.

Lindsay is a junior at Sierra Canyon high school in Los Angeles where she plays on the volleyball and softball teams. And in 2016, at the age of 12, she started Shoes for Souls as her bat mitzvah Tikkun Olam project, which according to Jewish custom is defined by acts of kindness to perfect or repair the world, often related to issues of social policy and helping those who are disadvantaged which is central to a mitzvah ceremony.

Since founding Shoes for Souls, Lindsay has donated more than 35K pairs of shoes and is currently on a drive to increase this by 25K in partnership with Soles4Souls which will enable her to travel globally to see how the donations are impacting the broader global community. Please reach out to Lindsay directly if you have shoes to donate so we can help support Shoes for Souls reach its goal.

Shoes for Souls contributes to SDG 10 Reduced Inequalities and also to  SDG 12 Responsible Consumption as these shoes are given a new lease of life when donated, rather than being thrown into the garbage and a landfill.
